If you have decided that you want to upgrade your Motorcycle HID, you will find a wide variety of choices. Fortunately, these can be decomposed into several basic categories.

Basically, you have two options to add to your bike light:

Replace your stock headlight bulbs with higher output units.
Add an additional form of lighting-Assist illuminator.
Today, let us take a look at the choice of # 1. In order to save costs, many motorcycle manufacturers to use low output headlight bulbs on the bike. Fortunately for you, as long as the change of these bulbs can be a very cost-effective options to improve your night vision. Replacement of light bulbs is a stock bike specific, but, so be sure to check if you use the correct replacement for your stock bulbs. There are two main different types of light bulbs currently used in automotive lighting. These are halogen and HID.

Halogen lamp standard, low cost lighting. Most of the stock of vehicles using this type of light bulbs, because they are cheap, reliable and effective. Halogen bulb produce light through the current through the string so that it glow white-hot filament. This can have a great light, but also high heat. For this reason it is very inefficient halogen bulbs, that is, most of the power consumption is their heat loss.

This raises two points for those who wish to improve their stock bulbs with higher output halogen replacement. The first is the possibility of new, light bulbs can generate enough heat burning or melting of the stock headlight housing and / or wiring. The second problem is that the bike stator low output, high-wattage bulbs can overload the capacity of the stator charge. Another project is to check the bike’s stock wiring harness has the ability to undertake this work. Major upgrade, you may need to increase the greater the measurement line, to complement existing treatment. Reserve capacity and wire gauge can be easily calculated (I will spell out in detail how to do this in the next article), but the hot issues, unfortunately, is more of a process of trial and error. Most bike ‘headlight shell should tolerate moderate lighting upgrade, but check things are in the beginning to ensure there is no melting.

Another option to improve the inventory of replacement HID bulbs. Many companies now offer packages to replace your factory halogens and HIDs. In view of the HID lamps produced by high voltage, in order to create an arc within the capsule metal vapor gas. The interests of this process, the production volume of very high light efficiency. One of the HID bulb will use 3-5 times less power than equivalent halogen output. Motorcycles, which means an increase of a large number of light, so as to reduce the electric power system on the bike. HID lights also produce the white light emission is more yellow light than halogen lamps. This allows the HIDs light seems brighter colors closer to natural daylight.

HIDs are not without their shortcomings, however. This increases the performance and efficiency is not cheap at all. A good set of HIDs can run several hundred dollars. In addition, the bulbs are usually more vulnerable than halogen bulbs and replacement bulbs can run more than 100 U.S. dollars. HIDs also have shortcomings, do not talk like regular bicycle. In other words, the closure and rapid, can greatly shorten the bulb life. General recommendations of at least 30 seconds to leave the lights “warm up” before the closure of its off, and let them calm down and re-highlight a few minutes ago. For many bicycles, “fragile” and “expensive” the deal breaker.
